Welcome to Slot Machines

Slot games are possibly the most liked games to wager on at casinos. On any night, count on most of the machines to be packed with enthusiastic gamblers. They come in a multitude of wagering levels; some just cost $.05 a spin and others can cost as much as twenty dollars a spin. Although slot machines are a wagering tool, many folks are intimidated by the high-dollar card tables and are partial to the entertainment and thrill of a good slot machine game.

The earliest mechanical slot machine was built in Eighteen Ninety Five and was dubbed the "Liberty Bell." Invented by a California machinist, the initial slot machines had three spinning reels with a cracked Liberty Bell, diamonds, hearts, and spades on each. Before this invention, the name "slot machines" was used to characterize various types of vending machines.

The initial widespread use of slot machine games in American casinos is attributed to the Flamingo Hotel, Sin City in and around 1940. The owner of the casino had originally thought the machines would be perfect to fascinate bored wives of a few of the largest high roller customers of the casino. Little did he know that slot machines would be an enjoyable activity for nearly everyone and that the enticement would go further than the bored wives. At this time, it is said, slots make up in excess of 2/3rds of all revenue generated by American betting houses.

Slot machine games absolutely have a rich history. From the little creation of the mid-1800’s to the billion dollar industry of today, the slots will continue to develop in prominence.
